teapigs Matcha Green Tea + Giveaway!!
Unless you live on a remote island somewhere.. you will of heard of Matcha Green Tea. Its a super powder that in one serving provides the equivalent of 15 cups of green tea, can boost metabolism and even claims to raise energy levels. Sound a bit too good to be true...? Yeh thats what I thought, so when i was given the opportunity to test drive my very own Matcha Powder by tasty tea masters teapigs I jumped at the chance!
So whats it all about?
Matcha is 100% natural, organic ground green tea leaves which are grown in the shade to increase chlorophyll content - the stuff that makes it so green and contains all the healthy nutrients and amino acids!
Think about it... when you make boiled spinach you don't throw out the spinach and drink the water.. so why do the same with green tea? Research shows that green tea is amazing for your health, containing more antioxidants per gram than some of natures healthiest superfoods such as gojiberries, blueberries and spinach.
What does it do to me?
Matcha contains an amino acid called L-theanine, which works to slowly release matchas's natural caffeine to give you a gentle and sustained energy boost lasting 4-6 hours.... so no massive coffee crashes! Not only does it boost your energy but L-theanine also helps to reduce stress, keeping you calm and focused.
Studies have also shown that green tea promotes fat oxidation- in simple terms it gives your metabolism a big kick up the butt and gets burning all that scrummy grub you tuck into on a daily basis (take this with a pinch of salt though.. it doesn't mean you can eat a dozen krispy kreme everyday and stay in amazing shape...)
What did I think?
I've been drinking Matcha Tea Powder with cold water first thing everyday for two weeks now, and whilst I haven't noticed any obvious boost in energy or metabolism, I love that i can enjoy green tea in a simple shot first thing in the morning rather than waiting around for a kettle to boil, the tea bag to brew and then cool down to drink.. especially when I'd have to do that 15 times a day to get the same effect!
I'm going to be honest with you it tastes like crap, but a simple little shot is over in seconds and if you're really fussy about the taste teapigs do a ready made Matcha drink which comes in elderflower, grapefruit or apple flavours! teapigs also have some delicious Matcha recipies on the website which I plan on testing out this weekend!
How Would you Matcha!?
Now because teapigs are such an awesome brand they sent me an extra Modern Matcha Tea Kit for one of you lucky readers to win! All you have to do is make sure your following me on Twitter and also pop a little comment below on how you would take your Matcha tea- remember to include your twitter handle so I can check your sharing the love!
Competition closes at 10pm (GMT) Friday 12th September 2014- (UK entries only- sorry!) - the best answer wins so get creative!
Good Luck!

I've been ooing and aahing about this for months now, grabbing free tasters whenever I can. I tried it straight up at the Ideal Home Show in March and we all agreed that it would be so much more refreshing mixed in the morning with a small glass of apple juice. So that's definitely how I would want to begin :)
